In the evening of May 6th, Willsemi (ticker: 603501) announced that China Securities Regulatory Commission approved its acquisition of Beijing Omnivision Technology Co., Ltd with conditions (“Beijing Omnivision”).
Beijing Omnivision, formerly known as Omnivision Technologies, Inc., founded in 1995, is a leading provider of digital imaging solutions. It designs and sells high-performance semiconductor image sensors and is one of the top three image sensor suppliers along with Sony and Samsung. Omnivision Technologies holds the third, second and the first place market share of mobile phones, automobiles and security CIS in the world respectively.
It is long-term R&D development investment and a large ratio of R&D personnel that enables Beijing Omnivision to achieve innovation and technology advantages. The company also has significant intellectual property in the emerging areas of digital image processing and machine vision.
